Client Pre-screening and Referral [CPR] Center
R&G can screen potential litigants for mass tort projects, and patient recruitment for clinical trials online or via telephone. We also assist with pre-project cost analysis, projection, and planning to help determine the most cost effective solution to match your needs.
Expert Witness Location
R&G will locate both consulting expert witnesses and testifying expert witnesses with specialties to meet the needs of your individual case. R&G has a computerized database of expert witnesses, including physicians and licensed nursing staff from numerous specialties. Relevant case issues are utilized in researching appropriate experts that will match your firm's preferences, style and needs.
Fraud & Abuse - Billing/Coding Analysis
R&G can analyze medical billing codes for accuracy of diagnosis and billing. These codes include Current Procedural Terminology Codes (CPT), International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification codes (ICD-9-CM), and Health Care Procedure Coding System codes (HCPCS).
Chronologies (with and without commentary)
This work product can be part of or independent of a Full Case work-up. RNs create a chronological presentation of medical records with and without analytical comments. This document is a chronological table layout of pertinent or verbatim information extracted from the medical records. The date and bates number of the referenced information is also included for ease of location. Relevant research and definitions of medical terms and medications are included along with analysis of key issues. The chronology without analysis may be used by the expert to decrease time (and cost) spent reviewing the case and records. Cost sharing with opposing counsel is possible with the chronology without comments.
Full Case Work-up
The full work up includes several work products: A chronology (with and without comments), a narrative summary and CD presentation. The medical records can be optionally bates stamped, placed in indexed or electronically tabbed binder presentation. The date and bates number of the referenced information can also be included for ease of location. Relevant research, definitions of medical terms and medication identification are included along with analysis of key issues. A summary and recommendations pulls together all medical issues for reviewing ease of the case. [See also Chronologies (with and without commentary)].
Independent Medical Examination
A registered nurse attends and observes the independent medical evaluation and provides a written report of the observations along with an audio tape of the examination.
Medical Research and Education
R&G Medical Consultants, Inc. can provide education to you, your staff and your clients. Specifically, we can integrate healthcare and nursing literature, guidelines, standards, and regulations as related to the healthcare facts and issues of a case or claim.
Merit Screen
R&G will objectively assess your case for adherence to standards of care, negligence, causation and damages. The merit screen report includes a complete review of the case in which the medical issues are assessed and compared to the relevant standards of care. We also identify elements of negligence to include a discussion of duty, breach of duty, causation and damages. The report provides a cost efficient (flat fee) review of the case issues and includes overall case assessment and recommendations.
Review of interrogatories and Question Preparation for Depositions
A review of interrogatories can provide a summary of the opposing party's answers and summarization of those answers. Pertinent questions relating to the relevant medical issues can be developed for assistance during the deposition process.
Summary and Analysis of Records
A case summary provides an overview of critical medical events of a case. Past medical history as it relates to the case along with a narrative discussion of events is provided. Supporting research excerpts are also included with citations. A conclusion and recommendations are also provided to assist the firm in creating case strategy.
Standards of Care/Best Practices
R&G's team of highly trained and experienced RN Associates can provide you with applicable Standards of Practice for hospitals, offices, nursing homes, etc. We can provide Clinical Practice Guidelines as well as Standards of Care and Regulations for your case.
Project Management/Liaison Services
For extensive projects, R&G will work with the attorney firm's lead staff to create or modify a work product template, or "blueprint," that is current, useful, and accurate. Each "blueprint" is customized to firm's preferences for customized case work up format and content needs. To facilitate timely communication, an RN Project Manager can be assigned to the project/attorney firm as an extension of their in-house team. This steady relationship is a hallmark of R&G and has proven to enhance not only communications, but also the production of work products, thus contributing to the overall satisfaction and success in exceeding client expectations. The Project Manager assigns, tracks and delivers work products according to firm's deadlines.
Specialized Software
CaseMap and TimeMap can be used to organize your case data. R&G can utilize CaseMap software to organize your chronology, explore the facts, the cast of characters and issues in your case. CaseMap can be linked to other litigation support tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Doculex, TextMap and Trial Director. TimeMap can be utilized to create chronological visuals that may also be utilized in deposition and trial to enhance demonstrative evidence. [See also Technical Nurse Consulting].
