R&G History
R&G was founded in February, 1992 by Rosie Oldham, BS, RN, LNCC. With a background in Nursing Administration, Risk Management and Quality Improvement, Ms. Oldham established R&G as a logical transition from hospital-based nursing to a free-standing consulting firm equipped to review and analyze hospital policies, procedures and medically related nuances relevant to litigation. She has developed an understanding of the legal world that few nurse professionals achieve. Ms. Oldham's experience lends itself to the success and growth of R&G. She remains the owner, CEO, President and Chairwoman of the Board of Directors. The distinct advantage to our clients is that Rosie is also a nurse who understands the medical, legal and business aspects of today's litigation. Rosie is a futuristic thinker and has effectively used technology to enhance every service available to our clients.
Experience in Industry
Most of the early cases reviewed by R&G were personal injury and medical malpractice. In December, 1992, R&G began working on product liability cases, resulting in completion of more than 750 claims for 45 firms. This led to staff expansion of more than 28 nursing contractors. Peer review of work products led to successful deficiency-free submission of these cases.
From 1994 to 1996, R&G processed more than 450 toxic tort (water contamination) cases. This project required 11 nurses to enter medical information into a custom database (developed to analyze statistical occurrences of medical complaints) for the client law firms and multiple defendants. In the midst of this project, in 1995, R&G incorporated. In 1997, R&G focused on complex medical malpractice and personal injury cases. Rosie Oldham established R&G Press and self-published the 1st edition of the Medical Legal Internet Directory containing more than 3000 web sites for medical legal research. The 2nd edition of this directory was published in 2000 by Lawyers & Judges Publishing Company, Inc, consisting of more than 4000 web sites. This directory has been heralded as a distinguished research tool for medical and legal case issues. In 2004, the 3rd edition was published on CD (also by Lawyers & Judges Publishing Company, Inc). With internet connection, the CD facilitates easy access to the websites via web links (CD edition is available at www.lawyersandjudges.com).
During 1998 - 1999, R&G's goals were to solidify its position as the leading legal nurse consulting firm in the United States. At that time, R&G's client base extended across 23 states and also included Canada and Israel. R&G added software to their information systems, such as TimeSlips®, and developed a custom database to track cases, provide conflict checks and enhanced the internal expert witness database. Newly expanded services included pioneering the role of the "Technical Nurse Consultant". With this growth, R&G acquired hardware (laptops/projectors) and technical trial / settlement consulting was added to the list of services R&G provided. Litigation support software was also purchased to further advance the skills and development of the "Technical Nurse Consultants".
Utilizing computerized demonstrative evidence, videos and synchronized depositions, R&G has successfully settled many cases with law firms in Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada. The pioneering role and integration of legal nurse consultants providing technical support culminates in many client favorable verdicts.
In January of 2003, R&G began successfully providing product liability RN reviews for a national pharmaceutical mass tort project. The current staff of registered nurses is divided into specialty groups handling all aspects of litigation practice areas.
Prior to 2004, R&G subcontracted record retrieval and scanning services to preferred vendors. In 2004, R&G Global Legal Solutions was established to meet additional document retrieval, scanning and electronic storage needs, often requested by our clients. The efficient and high quality service that is the hallmark of R&G, is now available to clients who need records obtained and scanned in a timely manner. Processes were instituted to ensure records were systematically checked for completeness upon arrival to allow the litigation team to proceed swiftly with case work ups.
The expansion of R&G services required additional office space. On October 27th, 2005, R&G (along with the Peoria Arizona Chamber of Commerce, attorneys, members of the legal nurse consulting community, clients, local government and business representatives, family and friends) celebrated the Grand Opening of the new office building R&G Solutions, LLC, located at 8671 West Union Hills Drive, Suite 503 in Peoria, Arizona 85382
In February 2007, R&G became certified as woman-owned small business entity by the Woman's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC)
Ms. Oldham continues to be actively involved in every facet of the business, from hiring and delivering presentations to facilitating work orders and mentoring her staff. R&G's growth is a direct outcome of its leadership team and successful work in 46 states by associates who are unmatched for excellence and dependability.
